David Francey
Revered Canadian Folk Singer-songwriter
Sunday September 19th, 6pm show (doors@5.30pm) $28/25adv
David Francey is a Scottish born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter, who has become one of Canada’s most revered folk poets and singers (Toronto Star). For decades he worked across Canada in rail yards, construction sites, and the Yukon bush. In his 40’s, encouraged by his wife to share his songs and sing in public, his 1999 recording debut, “Torn Screen Door” contained much of his experiences in that working class life. It was an immediate success.
He has since won the coveted Canadian Juno Award in the Roots and Traditional category 4times and released 13 CDs. He has also won the Grand Prize in the folk category of the John Lennon Song Writing Awards. His songs have been covered by many well-known artists; such as Mollie O’Brien, Del McCoury, and James Keelaghan.
