Open Road, a duo featuring veteran songwriters Lucia Comnes and John Palmer, both from Mill Valley, California, serves up original songs and reimagined acoustic covers as authentic Americana, from ragtime to rockabilly with a dash of R&B. Characterized by close male-female vocal harmonies, melodic guitar and soulful, dynamic fiddle and viola accompaniment, their first album, Skylark, topped national acoustic and folk radio charts this spring, debuting at #3 on the Folk Alliance national chart for May. Lucia has played with Joan Baez, Jefferson Hamer, Paul Brady and KITKA, and John has done session work with Fantasy Records in Berkeley and played guitar and bass in a number of San Francisco Bay Area rock and string bands. Founded by John in February 2022, Open Road has since toured Northern California, Nashville, Italy and Ireland, playing more than 35 concerts in its first year.
